Even though the meat of the show is on cd2, I've been enjoying cd3.

yes, most especially garcia's work during 'fire on the mountain', when during the second solo(iirc), he really starts manipulating the dynamics of the effects he uses

It's my favorite one. Still waiting on an '84 release.

Augusta would certainly be a good candidate for an 84 DP...at least for me anyway.

Since they don't do the DP thing any longer, how about a road trips with highlights from 10-9-84 and 10-12-84?

I say never another road trip.
They take one or two songs from a show, and then pull the entire SBD from the LMA.
It is all part of Bobby's plan to remove all SBDs without causing a stir...
"What? Its on an official release man..."

I think you are giving them too much credit for creating such a conspiracy and too much blame on Bob for executing it. However as long as there are sites out there that tell people how to steal the music from here, i can hardly blame them for trying to protect what is rightfully theirs. Please don't come back with the tired Jerry quotes from 30 years ago. They are no longer relevant.

However I agree in part with you. Most of the RT releases have been from 2 shows with some material from a third (I think RT1-1 was from more). My problem has been that the third show has sometimes only been part of the bonus disc. For example 5 or 6 songs from 8-6-71 were only on the bonus disc, none were on the actual release. However even though the bonus disc is no longer available, the newly available sbd and subsequent matrix releases are not available for streaming. I don't think its fair to pull shows that you can't even purchase.

Site's such as mine you mean.
As long as there dweebs like you with holier than thou attitudes eating from the "righteous" tree, I am happy to have such a site.

To steal from ducats... all those who criticize such sites...
Blow me.

If your site does that than yes, I guess I was referring to your site. I don't see how you can't see the irony in your complaining about boards being pulled while you are apparently telling people how to steal them. Did you ever consider that you might be part of the reason why they came up with the road trips strategy to get rid of the boards if in fact that is why they are doing those releases?

It's not about being righteous, it's about being respectful. This band gave more to their fans than any in the history of this planet, the least we can do is respect their wishes even if you don't agree with all of them.

As someone who streams about 80% of my listening, I find your actions more disturbing than a few shows getting pulled. You weren't here when all the boards got pulled. It sucked and I would hate to relive it.

Some people are known to fill up hard drives for people in B&Ps... I reckon there are at leasts dozens upon dozens of people who do that... I know of several for sure myself. The SBDs will never disappear, even if they pull them here. Don't believe the hype man. You might just have to adjust your listening habits.

And, changing the policy when the breadwinner dies doesn't make me too sympathetic.

Oh I understand that. I own plenty of music in part through bt and in part through the generosity of many good folks here. I don't think that's the problem. I don't think the band cares if individuals are trading shows. I also don't think you can predict how Jerry would have responded to one click downloads of shows, mp3s or people leaving notes at the itunes music store that they could go to the archive to get free copies of the Digital Download Series or at dead.net that people should go to speedingarrow to get shows.

I just find streaming shows to be a really convenient way to check out shows I haven't listened to before. However for every person that is trading hard drives, there are probably as many who only stream and would be seriously effected if this place shut down. Trust me, if they changed their policy and freed the boards here, I would download until the cows came home. Well unless they brought Dire with them....

Don't forget that some of 8-6-71 is on DP35; that, combined with the RT material, is probably the reason they pulled the boards.

The Other One-> Me & My Uncle-> The Other One
Deal
Sugar Magnolia
Morning Dew
Turn on Your Love Light

Are all on Disc 4 of DP35

I was always a fan of DP6, a nice show in an OK mix.
(The DP of 5-6-81 was spoiled for me by Garcia being mixed so low, though it has the 11-1-79 Scarlet>Fire to make up for it.)
I always skip set 1, but not only is the Scarlet>Fire pretty cool, the rest of set 2 is enjoyable too, including the Space.
10-15-83 is an even better show overall, and not just because of the Stephen.

It's one of the few shows of the 80s that I like. There's a great AUD here (with an unfortunate cut in Eyes):

http://www.archive.org/details/gd1983-10-14.nak700.mow.32360.sbeok.flac16

With the 2 Nak700's source...sounds very good so far, maybe no cut in the Eyes...No cut!

This show is one of my fav Dicks Pick also

Agreed that the Scarlet transition jam and Fire are in the pantheon of my all time favorites. Jerry and Phil are locked in during the build up to the start of Fire, with Phil teasing the opening bass line a few times and then whipping it out gorgeously (please, get your mind out of the gutter). The Eyes is also fantastic.
When I first found out this show was going to be released as a DP, my head nearly exploded. The Maxell XLII's I had of this show were really starting to wear out and I was really worried I might lose this one...Dick to the rescue (again, just because I happen to use "whipping it out" and "dick" in the same post doesn't mean what many of you - and you know who you are - are thinking).

Why do you interpret "you know who you are" as being intended to address a plural entity? Perhaps it is only aimed at a singular person. Again, YOU know who YOU are. Yep, and YOU give an entirely new, and very disturbing, definition to the milk mustache.

because you used the phrase "many of you.... you know who you are"

does that not signify plurality???

I am dismayed Mr. Hollow at the lack of your personal understanding of your own post. (well, ok, maybe not dismayed but...)

i do realize however that you are in the throes of chair-breaking while listening to this fine '83 show - so your slight error is completely understood

Perhaps by "many of you" I was referring to the Sybil-like characteristics displayed by the YOU in question.

Or perhaps we belabor the point.
